Preparing the Tool for a Treatment

Before starting a gua sha treatment, it's important to prepare your tool properly. It's important to choose the a side of your tool that hugs the part of your face you're wanting to treat. Before you begin, wash your tool before each use with soap and warm water to remove any bacteria. 

Starting the Treatment

Ensure you hold your Gua Sha tool comfortably in your dominant hand, and  support your skin with the opposite hand as you glide the tool over your skin. It is vital to use gentle feather-like strokes and repeat each movement no more than 5 to 10 times.

Techniques to Use During a Treatment

Back of neck: Start by finding a side of your tool that fits the base of your neck. Gently scrape the tool upwards towards your hairline. 

 

Front of neck and Chest: Start by gently gliding the large flat edge under the collarbones using outward strokes towards your shoulder. Repeat on the other side. Move onto the front of the neck by gently gliding the tool in an upward motion along the throat to under your chin.

 

Jawline: To contour the jaw, glide your tool outwards from the center of the chin towards your ear.

Cheeks: Start at the nose and gently move the tool across the cheeks towards your ears.

 

Eyes: Start in the inner corner of the eye and genly glide outwards to the temple.

 

Forehead: Start at the center of the forehead divide your forehead into three sections and glide your tool outwards. Then move down slightly and repeat the action

 

Finish: End your gua sha facial by gently gliding the tool down the sides of the neck towards your clavicle bones. This motion assist in the removal of toxins and excess fluids.
